What To Know About Social Media Marketing

March 9th, 2010

If you own a small business, social media marketing can help your company to gain name recognition and to grow.

Thanks to the World Wide Web, our world has grown much smaller. Small businesses that once had only local customers may now have customers from around the world. This means that you no longer have a limited market potential, but an unlimited one.

The problem however is that not only are there unlimited customers, there is also unlimited competition. Just as you have started your own home business, someone else from around the world can also start a business and offer similar products to those you offer many times at a lower price.

If customers recognize your name brand, they will likely pay more for your product than one which they do not recognize. Just ask companies like Nike. Today, one of the best ways to get name brand recognition is not a television campaign, but a social media one. Millions of people log into their account at a social media network at least once a day. The best campaigns allow your company to gain name brand recognition at a lower cost than you are able to get on television or radio.

If you are new to social media, a coach can help you to find your way through the first few campaigns. The coach is continually studying the media and understands the best ways to get your message to the world. If you follow the coach’s instructions you can make the most of the campaign in order to see a small business begin to grow.

Social media marketing is an excellent way to grow a small business into a larger business. This approach to marketing uses the media that millions of people log into every day to push your business to the top.

Its a fact that if you are the owner of a business, social media marketing will certainly help with company recognition and growth. More info on http://www.trcb.com/author/siddique.htm

Learn How To Create Marketing Success With Twitter

March 7th, 2010

Even as Facebook was just becoming a household name, Twitter burst onto the scene, and has rapidly become one of the hottest social networking sites on the web today. It has taken a while for Internet marketeers to understand this incredibly useful marketing tool, especially as originally Tweeting was just regarded as an activity for socializing, as is texting. That’s not to say that every marketer has successfully capitalized off of this growing site, however. Good marketing is good marketing, whether it be a billboard or Tweet. You can definitely avoid these mistakes, though if you’ll just use some simple precautions before you start marketing on Twitter. Remember that Twitter is considered a social platform, so it’s very public and can easily give your business a wide exposure. Remember that Twitter marketing should be utilized intelligently, and do not forget that it can be abused if you are not cautious. We will cover a number of pitfalls to watch out for while marketing with Twitter in the following article.

The first and foremost mistake people make when marketing on Twitter is to, well, start with marketing. The worst outcomes, as contradictory as it may seem, start by introducing yourself as a profiteer. In the initial stages, your focus should on building strong relationships, winning the trust of people and being visible. By making these efforts, you will essentially receive permission from your market to proceed with your promotion. How do you take this permission? In participating and socializing as much as possible on Twitter. As you take part in the Twitter community and establish sociable relationships, you will come to be trusted - then, and only then, should you start to create a list of prospects and promote your product to them, thereby increasing the number of visitors to your site and your sales. Be extremely outgoing and friendly and make sure to use it daily. Do not be too mercenary and focused on business in your tweets, and don’t turn them into uninteresting advertisements. Yes, you have to be serious about marketing, but you need to add a dash of humor to it. It is a good idea to be natural and reveal your great personality. By assisting the audience in an entertaining method, they will appreciate you and will begin to trust you more over time. Be engaging and easy to deal with, that’s the secret to winning their hearts.

Sending spam in the form of tweets to the Twitter community at large is undoubtedly the greatest misstep individuals make while using the platform, as Twitter users will overlook such tweets. Conveying information in a brief, uncomplicated manner, tweets should be similar to a dinner conversation carried on at your evening meal. People who login to Twitter want to have some fun, have a good time by socializing. When they notice that they are being faced with spam, a sales pitch from someone they don’t even know, they instantly feel negative about it. The solution? Present yourself as a guest looking to enjoy their dinner time chat with them rather than blatantly sell to them. In every way possible, these tweets must be useful. Of course that doesn’t mean you aren’t able to promote through your tweets. You just need to provide your followers with a significant value before you send them marketing tweets. If you alternate between valuable ideas and some suggested products that you endorse, this will be received much better by the intended audience. With suggestions and endorsements instead of hard core advertising, you can effectively market with Twitter. This is, after all, a social network. With that in mind, be sociable. Be a person -not a corporation. A face, not a business. If you are able to be totally real and helpful in your approach, people will be willing to buy.

The first mistake to avoid is thinking that the people on Twitter are not smart - especially when it comes to spam. So if you intend to just spam people using Twitter, you will find yourself wasting your time constantly trying to gather new followers because your old followers will dump you quickly. When you tweet, it’s a powerful way to send out a message. Of course, if you do not present it correctly, your message does not come through clearly. Twitter is a social network, and the people who participate view it as such and do not want to be spammed with promotional advertising through such a medium. Keep in mind that, for those people who follow your sentiments, your Tweets need to be highly beneficial and give them a sense that they have learned something. Also, you need to remember that it will take some time to build trust with your followers. You’ll want them to see you as an expert in your field before you start trying to promote or sell them something. Actually, promotion is not a word that works well with Twitter, it really is all about recommendations here. Your best bet is to mix any recommendations (i.e. product promotions) into other tweets that you are sending out that provide information on a continuous basis. This technique will assure you profits from your recommendations and also shows that you know what your followers and the rest of the Twitter community expects.

As with any community, Twitter thrives on conversations among a variety of types of people. If you’re a dedicated marketer with a one-track mind focused on your sales, and your tweets are simply promotions for your product, you won’t get many followers or make many sales. So avoid this blunder if you hope to achieve success over the long haul. As you engage in a variety of conversations in the Twitter community, you will have the opportunity to establish yourself as a real authority in your particular market. Forging acquaintances with Twitter is not difficult. By building a group of similar minds behind you, a devoted crowd will gradually develop that will be keen to any tweet you send their way.

By avoiding the above Twitter mistakes, you can start making some money from Twitter. Recently I created a Sales Page Theme, Magic Article Rewriter twitter accounts and I was able to build up a ton of followers for it.

The Paranoia of Bad Press

March 4th, 2010

When products begin to host their own social media networks, you know two major market forces have merged to find an ever-wider circle of possible consumers and a platform to proselytize the product. So, to be sure, a funny thing always happens on the way to the forum — and the Facebook page and the Twitter page. When media and consumerism, those uneasy bed-mates, strike up a bargain of sorts, we the people are sure to be invited to one hell of an event.

To be sure, a viable marketing strategy for these latter days of Web 2.0 has been to link the homepage of major products and businesses to a social media website (Facebook has become ubiquitous — for now) it does beg the question of whether or not this is the wisest strategy. In some regards, these companies take their reputation management into their own hands.

Hosting a social media website dedicated to Product X makes it possible for fans and critics alike to post comments, start threads, and affect organic search results. To be sure, with the growing prominence of real-time search — and the wholesale appropriation of Twitter feeds in the SERP pages — it seems one bad comment could set off a wildfire of negative press.

It must be said that these comments, whether praise or condemnation, would have been hosted on other social media websites. Now comes a rather Machiavellian idiom: keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Why allow another site to benefit from your company name? By hosting the social media channel or platform, you are indeed allowing negative posts to pepper your page. But, you are building a tremendous amount of consumer trust in doing so.

If you can be trusted to listen and respond evenly to criticism, you stand to retain and grow traffic and consumers. An even-keeled mea culpa is worth thousands of consumers. Allowing them to respond in kind is a tremendous means of dealing with potentially disastrous public relations incidents and can even entice the dissatisfied to a change of heart.

A prime example of the successful balance of product and social media can be found at Yoostar. While offering a revolutionary new technology, they have made it accessible by everyone.

How to Get a Huge Following on Twitter

March 3rd, 2010

Twitter has evolved from a way to tell people what you had for breakfast into a powerful marketing tool. If that is something that interests you, the first thing you’ll want to do is amass a huge list of followers. These steps will show you how.

1. Start by creating a great bio. You only have 160 characters to do this, unlike the 140 limit in tweets, so think carefully about how you will write your bio. Make sure it includes your website address.

2. If you’re just getting started on Twitter, create about 10 interesting, relevant tweets. Give people a reason to follow you.

3. Links to interesting websites, articles and videos make great tweets. Because the URLs will be too long for Twitter, you’ll need to create a short version. You can do this at tinyurl.com. Copy the long link and paste it into the appropriate window there and it will generate a short link that is suitable for Twitter.

4. Humorous and inspiring quotes make great tweets and are among the most popular. Lots of sites post great quotes for you to use. Find them with a Google search.

5. Search YouTube for videos that relate to your topic or area of expertise, then tweet about them.

6. Help others by re-tweeting their tweets. Many will return the favor, which will expose you to other people who may then decide to follow you.

7. Join the conversation. Reply to other people’s tweets, give them a compliment or thank them for sharing. These people may also decide to send you @ messages, which will also make their followers aware of you.

8. When people re-tweet you, be sure to thank them. It shows good manners and it increases the chances that they will do it again.

9. Participate in Follow Fridays by recommending others on Twitter to your followers. In turn, many of the people your recommend will then recommend you, which can grow your list of followers.

10. Follow all of Twitter’s rules about following and un-following. Don’t become too aggressive or your account will be suspended.

11. Try to limit the number of marketing tweets you post. You should do about 10 regular tweets for every marketing one.

March 2nd, 2010

Innovation will almost certainly make it easier to succeed where others fail. But, by doing something unique that shows off what an innovative business you are, it can give you the online image that you’re an intelligent, hip, and with it company that is going to keep getting better and better. But, how do you do this when you don’t want to spend a ton of money and time on research and development on products that may not earn more then they took to develop. Well, until the time comes to unroll your big innovation, you can opt for small innovative gestures that show your customers you really are on the leading edge. For that, Internet and social media applications can be a really easy way to get the right attention without too much in depth research or commitment.

Website Applications

Even if you don’t decide to develop your own, there are plenty of website applications you can use on your own website to give the impression that you are technologically savvy and innovative. If you have a stock market website, why not include some stock quote applications? If you are a mortgage lender, mortgage calculators make ideal tools to add to your website because they help your buyers determine how much house they can afford.

You can even hire someone to create special applications for your website to further promote some product. For instance, recently, a website called Telonu.com that offers reviews of employers also created an application that tracks the layoffs in the different companies. People who go to the site cannot only get an idea of how good they are to work for, but whether they are stable, growing companies or not.

Social network Applications

There is a great glut of applications on social media sites, like Facebook. But, there’s always room for one more, if it is genuinely innovative and engaging. These make an excellent foil to introduce new customers to your business and to interact in a manner that is non-threatening and friendly. Different examples of popular applications on Facebook are L’il Green which gets environmentally conscious people to build virtual gardens and save rain forest while they’re doing it. If an application is well accepted, it can spread across Facebook very fast, landing you in practically everyone’s inbox.

You can hire someone to produce a Facebook application or you can do it yourself. Basic ones are generally just a collection of images that are used to promote some concept and that are fun to send as gifts to others on the same online community site. Just downloading one application will often get you a link to produce your own application, should the mood suit you and you have a firm concept that promotes your business niche too. Don’t just go willy-nilly. Try to use the application to help provide exposure for some area within your business that is targeting a specific market niche.

Social Networking Marketing Strategy

February 27th, 2010

Personalize It To Sell!

Social networking is taking off big time with sites like Facebook and Twitter in the top five social bookmarking sites. These sites have produced new opportunities to reach people online, even market them, if you know how to do it correctly. One thing that it is possible to be sure of is that people who get on these websites enjoy the way it helps them define their self-identities. So, marketing to anything that helps them say who they are, what groups they belong to, and what values they uphold is a great way to build your contact list, and even in some cases, promote products that will appeal to this demographic.

Look At Me!

One way that Facebook and Twitter let you personalize the profile is by using your real name, or in the case of Twitter, a screen name. This draws attention to who that person is and helps to boost their self-image. In the same way, if you are trying to sell cups or calendars, if you have some way that you can include a personalization to make the item more custom, you will generate more orders. Everyone loves to see their name in print!

Generate A Group Identity

On Facebook, it is possible to set up a Facebook page for celebrities, businesses, and products. People then join these pages to become a group of fans that like the page or topic. Once you have a group of people together, it can be a great way to get a group identity together by creating interesting names for the groups, having interactive activities on occasion and creating social badges that show people as being a member of that group. This helps in promoting your group and your business as other people go to other social media sites. They can then identify themselves by saying they’re a member of that group or using some other form of badge or button that you provide to identify themselves with pride. Even if they never go elsewhere to promote your group, the fact that they are a part of a group that you started gives you a captive audience and relaxes many of the restrictions that you have for marketing in Facebook. You can’t spam others on their profiles with your offers, but in a group, the practice may be more acceptable if it helps to facilitate group activities and uphold group standards of identity.

Social Values That Sell

If you’re a non-profit organization trying to use social network to help generate contacts and promote some of your products, you can sell through the promotion of your social values. For instance, if you’re a non-profit that believes in environmental issues, it is possible to promote specific items in your product line-up, in a post to a group wall, that shows how that item helps to save the environment. Since people wouldn’t join the group of a social conscience site without having some of the same values, it provides the perfect trigger to create buying behavior.

Using Social Media

February 26th, 2010

Facebook, Linked-In, MySpace, Hi5, Twitter, what do all these sites have in common? You guessed it! All these social media sites are to make new friends, socialize with people, and find where the parties are bumping. However, aside from that, many people are using these sites for much great purposes. In many cases, people are making millions of dollars. We all might wonder who is getting rich and how are they becoming rich.

From the business perspective, companies are using social media sites to prosper in their own sector of business and rake in the big bucks. Competitive and prosperous companies have now started (a) marketing and advertising online, and (b) analyzing consumer demographics, making social media imperative for a successful business.

We have all received newspapers and have seen the advertisements of various products and services displayed on each page. Only after a few glances, we fold the paper and toss it to the side or recycle it. At times, we don’t realize the vast amounts of money that companies are investing to target consumers but marketing directors carry this worry every day.

That is why many directors have shifted their marketing to the revolutionizing world of social media. First, it becomes more effective because of the amount of time people spend on social media sites. Second, advertising becomes cheaper, due to the fact that there is no printing or advertising cost. These two factor have shifted the mainstream advertising strategies from paper and billboards to blogs and social media.

Another reason why social media is being used by companies is to analyze consumer demographics. Now that marketing and advertising has moved on to the internet, companies are more effective in knowing the demographics of their consumers. Furthermore, by creating groups to join (on social media), they can analyze who exactly is interested in their products and how to target potential consumers. Moreover, every click of the mouse is recorded and time sensitive data is gathered into statistics, which reveal information otherwise not known. Business is all about knowing who are the consumers and how to target them.

Businesses nowadays are looking for anyway to gain an edge on their competitors; therefore, many companies are looking to social media for an advantage. It’s all about being more effective in targeting consumers and efficient with resources, especially money. Listed above are only two factors that reveal the role social media plays in the business world. Think about the many other factors that are just as significant as the two mentioned. You will soon come to the conclusion that not only is social media in the business world significant but imperative to a company’s success.
